FirstNet, the first nationwide public safety communications platform, is up-and-running and Panasonic has the devices that will take first responders to the next level using the exciting, new government-mandated network.
Incorporating groundbreaking technology, FirstNet is specifically for first responders, including fire, EMS, and law enforcement agencies and verified individuals, including volunteers, who help to save lives and safeguard American communities.
Paid users receive FirstNet SIM cards that connect them to the dedicated network with its high-tech, reliable communications capabilities. Not only is FirstNet aimed at providing first responders in the field with mission-critical communications, but the network also enables those in the field to communicate quickly and successfully with those who are working at command centers, in hospitals, military bases, police stations, and so on.
But what does the transition from current networks to FirstNet entail?
The Transition to FirstNet with TOUGHBOOK
Whether you already work with a Panasonic TOUGHBOOK® or are considering upgrading to one, Panasonic is now an authorized FirstNet dealer and is able to help customers upgrade all their rugged laptops, two-in-one devices, and tablets so they can benefit immediately from the new technology.
Renowned for its first responder hardware solutions, Panasonic is the perfect FirstNet partner. The company undoubtedly has more experience and expertise than any other hardware technology provider and is committed to developing its next generation of mobile devices to be instantly compatible with FirstNet. In fact, Panasonic was approved to join the FirstNet Dealer Program because it focuses on mobility solutions that meet the needs of public safety agencies and first responders.
Before the transition to FirstNet can begin, it is essential to know what specifications, requirements, and in the case of existing devices, what upgrades or replacements are necessary.
The TOUGHBOOK 33 laptop computer, the handheld TOUGHBOOK N1, and the high-powered Toughpad FZ-G1 tablet are all available now from Panasonic and from authorized Panasonic dealers like MooringTech, on a FirstNet rate plan, along with additional models that simply require the latest firmware and Sierra wireless module. In fact, any TOUGHBOOK or handheld device that are integrated with the Sierra Wireless MC/EM7355 or EM7455 LTE modules can operate on the FirstNet platform. All you need is a FirstNet rate plan and corresponding SIM card.
Panasonic will also be offering FirstNet Ready devices that have an embedded module right out of the box.
FirstNet has been in the planning and development stage since 2012 with the new platform being built with AT&T in partnership with the First Responder Network Authority (FirstNet.) Even though the new network has begun to roll out, the process will continue for more than just a few years.
