Not sure whether to buy a tablet or a laptop? Panasonic offers the best of both worlds with the company’s range of tough and rugged convertible tablets. The only challenge will be to decide which will be best for you!
There are currently two rugged Panasonic Toughbook convertible tablets and a semi-rugged Toughpad on offer:
All three double as a laptop and tablet, and all three are ideal for mobile workers. It really depends on the job you or your employees do, because they do have different features and abilities. Also, size and weight varies, which can be very important in the field.
Panasonic Toughbook CF-33
Designed to meet the needs of those in the field working in mission-critical situations, including the military and first responders, the 12-inch CF-33 Panasonic Toughbook is as tough and rugged as they get.
Available with Windows 10 Pro or Windows 7, it is the first fully-rugged computer to incorporate a 3:2 aspect ratio screen, that provides better viewing of business applications (both text and pictures) in both landscape and portrait formats. The display is 15 percent larger and 50 percent brighter than other rugged devices in its class, and it also offers three times the resolution.
The Panasonic Toughbook CF-33 has been designed to meet strict military standards relating to drop, shock, temperature shock, vibration, rain, dust, sand, altitude, freeze and thaw, extreme high and low temperatures, humidity, salt fog, solar radiation, and explosive atmospheres. So, you can drop it from up to four feet and it won’t be damaged. It’s completely dustproof, and if you are in an environment where low-pressure jets of water come at you from every angle, your device is safe.
The CF-33 Toughbook weighs 6.1 lbs, measures 12.3 x 11.4 inches, and is 1.8 inches thick (or high when closed). When the 2.7 lb keyboard is removed from the Toughbook it becomes a tablet weighing just 3.4 lbs.
Panasonic Toughbook C-20
Like the Toughbook CF-33, the 10.1-inch Panasonic Toughbook C-20 is available with the Windows 10 Pro or Windows 7 downgrade option, and has been designed to meet strict military standards. So, it is also a great choice for those in the field who face uncertain, often severely adverse conditions, including police, military, and first responders. But it is considerably smaller and lighter than the Toughbook 33, weighing in at just 3.9 lbs and measuring 10.7 x 9.2 inches. It is nice and skinny at 1.3 inches and, like the CF-33, can be used as a laptop or tablet. This makes it a popular choice for service and maintenance technicians, as well as insurance assessors, building inspectors, as well as those working in various government agencies.
Panasonic Toughpad FZ-Q2
A little different to both the Panasonic Toughbook CF-33 and C-20, the Toughbook FZ-Q2 is a semi-rugged tablet that comes with an attachable keyboard that effectively converts it to a laptop computer. While not as rugged as the Toughbooks, the Q2 is smaller and so considerably more portable than the convertible laptop-tablets.
In spite of officially being “semi-rugged,” the Toughpad FZ-Q2 is considered by many to be extremely rugged. Like the two tough and rugged Toughbooks, it has been tested to specific military standards and is great for those in public service, including federal and police officers and for assessors in the insurance industry. It is a fanless design which makes it resistant to dirt and dust.
The 12.5-inch (bigger than the C-20) Toughpad Q2 is the lightest of these three devices, weighing just 2.3 lbs. It measures 13.4 x 8.7 inches and it’s incredibly thin – just 0.8 inches.
All these convertible tablets are highly durable and both hardware and software is cutting edge. They’ll all ensure you’re a survivor in the field.
